Living with dual knee amputations presents daily challenges. Simple tasks—like leaving the house or getting to medical appointments—can become complex, especially when travel involves long distances and you don’t drive. Colleen Rohr travels over 90 miles to Bismarck about once a month for medical care. NDAD helps ease the financial burden by covering her medical travel expenses.
Now in its milestone 30th year, Escape to the Lake continues to provide individuals with health challenges the opportunity to experience the thrill of water sports using adaptive equipment, with support and guidance from trained volunteers. The event reflects NDAD’s longtime commitment to expanding access to recreation and promoting inclusive community experiences.
Through a donation from NDAD, a VertaCat mobility cart is now available at King’s Walk Golf Course—opening the door for individuals with limited mobility to experience the game in a new and meaningful way.
