NDAD has awarded a $5,000 Adaptive Recreation Grant to Vocational Training Center, Inc. (VTC) in support of its Vitality Through Connections program. The program serves individuals with one or more intellectual and/or developmental disability (IDD) diagnoses who are experiencing early cognitive or physical changes and are seeking a more retirement-focused lifestyle. Through intentional programming, VTC focuses on promoting wellness, social engagement, and meaningful connection as individuals age.
Now in its milestone 30th year, Escape to the Lake continues to provide individuals with health challenges the opportunity to experience the thrill of water sports using adaptive equipment, with support and guidance from trained volunteers. The event reflects NDAD’s longtime commitment to expanding access to recreation and promoting inclusive community experiences.
Through a donation from NDAD, a VertaCat mobility cart is now available at King’s Walk Golf Course—opening the door for individuals with limited mobility to experience the game in a new and meaningful way.
