The mission of NDAD is to enhance the quality of lives of individuals facing health challenges.

Charitable nonprofit NDAD — the North Dakota Association for the Disabled — was founded 50 years ago by concerned citizens for the purpose of assisting people with disabilities and health challenges in the state of North Dakota, many of whom were ineligible for services from other agencies. NDAD’s reach also includes border communities in surrounding states. NDAD offers direct financial assistance, health care equipment loans, adaptive recreation resources, and information, referral and advocacy services.

Several NDAD clients explain how our services helped them and also offer hope for others.

Success Stories:

Inclusive Fitness Builds Strength, Confidence, and Connection

The special education units of South Valley and Rural Cass are leading the way in inclusive physical education. Through an adaptive curriculum, they ensure that all students—regardless of ability—can participate meaningfully and succeed in physical education. This effort was further supported by NDAD’s Gibbens Memorial Grant, which funded their co-ability teams to compete in the ABLE Games—the region’s first all-inclusive functional fitness competition.
