National Night Out will be held August 3rd, 2010 at the Purpur Arena 1110 7th Avenue South in Grand Forks from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. National Night Out is an event that is held in communities across the country on the first Tuesday in August.

The event is designed to increase public awareness of crime prevention and to encourage residents to support police-community partnerships.

This family friendly event is free and open to the public. The first 1,000 guests will enjoy free hamburgers and chips for dinner. Also area groups that will be displaying informational booths will each be offering a door prize that will be given away that night. You must be present to win.

This is a super opportunity to spend time with your family and educate your children on crime prevention. Tours will be available through local ambulance, police, sheriff and fire vehicles. Plus the GF swat truck and regional bomb truck will be on display.

“This event is a great opportunity to learn how to recognize and help prevent crime in your community,” Mayor Michael R. Brown stated, “We have a great community in which to live, work and play and we want to make sure it stays that way.”
